Mets Add Amazin’ Arm
Most Mets fans’ expectations are soaring over Shea these days. Omar Minaya’s makeover has made the Mets a serious contender for 2006. But, at what price? The Mets’ have depleted their system of high level pitching prospects over the past year by trading away young pitchers Scott Kazmir, Yasmeiro Petit, Gabby Hernandez and Jae Seo. Thankfully, we still have our #1 pick from 2004, Phillip Humber (recovering from elbow surgery). Minaya finally stopped the bleeding yesterday when he pulled a card he’s had up his sleeve for over seven months. Early Monday, the Mets’ came to agreement with their 2005 #1 pick. Baseball America actually rated him as the best pitcher in the 2005 draft, but he dropped to #9 because he is a client of ‘SHOW ME THE MONEY!’ mega-agent Scott Boras. Mets’ fans now have a new hill-topper to look forward to. Please welcome our future ace, Mike Pelfrey:
